Who We Are

The John & Amy Mewhiney Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, founded in 2003.

Our mission is to fund research for early detection of lung cancer, educate the public about the disease, and assist and advocate for lung cancer patients and those at risk for lung cancer.

The Foundation’s primary program is funding the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program (I-ELCAP) at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, which provides screening for at-risk individuals at no cost. 

In addition, we have established the Amy Fund to provide small grants to help lung cancer patients with incidental costs.

Our members, including our Board of Directors, are all volunteers.
